Oklahoma State Post-Game Notes

Game Flow

  * Oklahoma State set the tone early, scoring on a 75-yard pass from Spencer Sanders to Dillon Stoner on its second play from scrimmage. In taking a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter, the Cowboys outgained BU, 214-15. Stoner’s career day included six catches for 180 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone, while Sanders surpassed 250 yards and had three TDs through the air before intermission as OSU took a 28-0 advantage into the break.
  * The Cowboys finished with 608 total yards while holding Baylor to only 156. The Bears’ lone score came on a field goal with 7:55 remaining in the game.
  * OSU competed without a number of notable players vs. the Bears, including wide receiver Tylan Wallace, running backs Chuba Hubbard and LD Brown, cornerback Rodarius Williams and safety Tre Sterling.

Game Notes

  * Baylor’s 156 yards of total offense was the second-fewest allowed by OSU in the Mike Gundy-era; the Cowboys held Savannah State to 139 yards in 2012.
  * OSU held Baylor to just three points, the fewest allowed by the Cowboys since they won 59-3 against Lamar on Sept. 14, 2013.
  * Three Cowboys made the first starts of their OSU careers – Brennan Presley (WR), Christian Holmes (CB) and Thomas Harper (S).
  * Senior Dillon Stoner finished with eight catches for a career-high 247 yards and three touchdowns. It marked the fifth 100-yard receiving game of his career – 100 vs. Pittsburgh in 2017; 113 vs. Kansas in 2017; 127 vs. West Virginia in 2018; and 150 vs. Kansas in 2019.
  * Stoner became the eighth player in OSU history with 200 yards receiving in a game, joining Adarius Bowman, James Washington, Dez Bryant, Rashaun Woods, Tylan Wallace, Curtis Mayfield and Justin Blackmon.
  * Stoner’s 247 receiving yards was the third-highest single-game total in program history, trailing only Adarius Bowman (300 yards vs. Kansas in 2006) and James Washington (296 yards vs. Pittsburgh in 2016).
  * Stoner’s 75-yard touchdown reception on OSU’s opening drive marked the second-longest catch of his career, one shy of his 76-yard scoring grab against Kansas during his sophomore season in 2017.
  * Stoner has at least one catch in 47 of his past 48 games.
  * Sophomore Spencer Sanders completed 20-of-30 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns. It marked the second time in his career to throw for at least 300 yards, the other coming with a 400-yard effort earlier this season vs. Texas.
  * Sanders’ 75-yard touchdown pass in the opening quarter was his longest of the season. His previous long was 55, which came last week against TCU.
  * Freshman Dominic Richardson had 23 rushes for 169 yards and three touchdowns. He entered the contest with 14 carries for 43 yards in five career games.
  * Richardson became the fourth Cowboy running back to rush for 100 yards this season, joining Chuba Hubbard, LD Brown and Dezmon Jackson. He is the first OSU true freshman to top the century mark since J.D. King in 2017 vs. West Virginia.
  * Richardson scored the first touchdown of his career on a 17-yard run in the second quarter.
  * Senior Tay Martin had the best day of his OSU career, finishing with three catches for 28 yards, all career bests in a Cowboy uniform for the Washington State transfer.
  * Sophomore defensive end Trace Ford continued to wreak havoc as he tied a career-high with four tackles to go along with a sack, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble.
  * OSU’s 92-yard scoring drive in the opening quarter was its longest of the season. The previous long was 88 yards against Kansas.
  * The Cowboys racked up 347 total yards in the opening half while holding BU to 52.
