THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor women’s golf is in eighth place after shooting 17-over-par 593 across Saturday’s two rounds at the Betsy Rawls Invitational. BU enters Sunday’s final round at UT Golf Club eight strokes outside the top five.



Baylor (+17) leads Yale (+24), North Texas (+24), TCU (+25), UNLV (+28), Texas State (+29), New Mexico (+33) and SMU (+41). The Bears trail Kent State (-12), Oklahoma State (-9), Texas (-4), Miami (-4), Maryland (+9), Denver (+10) and Colorado (+11).



BU carded 17-over par 305 in Saturday morning’s first round, then improved by 17 strokes to post an even-par 288 in the second round, despite junior Diane Baillieux being forced to withdraw after the first round due to injury.



With all four players counting scores in the second round, Elodie Chapelet led the way with a 3-under 69, Fiona Liddell posted a 1-under 71, Erica Chiang carded 1-over 73 and Gurleen Kaur fought through an injury of her own to post 3-over 75.



Chapelet is tied for 16th place individually at 1-over 145 across 36 holes. Chiang is tied for 24th place at 2-over 146, while Kaur is tied for 39th at 6-over 150 and Liddell is tied for 46th at 8-over 152. Chiang had the Bears’ best first round at 1-over 73, followed by Kaur at 3-over 75, Chapelet at 4-over 76 and Liddell at 9-over 81.


HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor ranks fifth in the 15-team field in par-4 scoring at 22-over 4.24, eighth in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.94 and 10th in par-3 scoring at 6-over 3.17.
  *   BU ranks seventh in the tournament with 22 birdies across the team.
  *   Liddell is tied for fifth in the 78-player field in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.88.
  *   Chiang is tied for seventh in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.63.
  *   Kaur is tied for 12th in par-4 scoring at 1-over 4.05.
  *   Chapelet is tied for 14th in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.75.
  *   Chapelet and Chiang are tied for 15th in par-4 scoring at 2-over 4.10.
  *   Chapelet leads the team and is tied for 17th overall with six birdies across 36 holes.
  *   Chiang has a team-high 24 pars, tied for 15th-most in the field.

STAT OF THE DAY
17 – Baylor trimmed 17 strokes off its team score between the first and second rounds, despite being down to four players with Baillieux forced to withdraw due to injury. Chapelet improved her score by seven strokes and Liddell knocked 10 shots off her score, while Kaur and Chiang matched their first-round scores.
