Baylor Men’s Basketball Signs Top 10-Ranked Recruiting Class
Bears sign trio of four-star, top-100 ranked prep players

WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s basketball signed a trio of highly-regarded prep prospects to National Letters of Intent, head coach Scott Drew announced Wednesday. The Bears’ three-member 2020 signing class is ranked No. 8 nationally by 247Sports and No. 10 nationally by ESPN.com.

Baylor’s fall signing class is comprised of Dain Dainja from Brooklyn Park, Minn., LJ Cryer from Katy, Texas, and Zach Loveday from Gallipolis, Ohio. All three are four-star recruits, with Dainja ranked No. 52 nationally and Cryer ranked No. 64 nationally in the ESPN100.

Dainja, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward, is the nation’s No. 11-ranked power forward in the 2020 class according to ESPN. He attends Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park, Minn. 247Sports ranks him No. 51 nationally and No. 9 among centers, while Rivals has him at No. 57 nationally and No. 9 among power forwards.

Dainja reportedly chose Baylor over offers from Florida, Arizona State, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, Marquette, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Xavier, Tennessee, Syracuse and West Virginia, among others.

Cryer, a 6-foot, 170-pound guard is the nation’s No. 12-ranked point guard in the 2020 class by ESPN. He plays prep ball at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, Texas. He was ranked as high as No. 51 nationally by Rivals, and 247Sports ranks him as the nation’s No. 15 point guard and No. 4 player from Texas in the 2020 class. He’s also the No. 1-ranked prospect in the Houston area according to both VYPE and RCS Sports.

Cryer reportedly chose Baylor over offers from LSU, Purdue, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, Washington, Wichita State, Virginia Tech, VCU, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Iowa and Houston, among others.

Loveday, a 6-foot-11, 215-pound center, is ranked as the nation’s No. 20 center in the 2020 class and No. 2 overall player from the state of Ohio by ESPN. He attends Huntington Prep in Huntington, W.Va. Loveday was ranked as high as No. 51 nationally and No. 12 among centers by Rivals, while 247Sports places him No. 15 among centers.

Loveday reportedly chose Baylor over offers from Florida, Louisville, Ohio State, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina State, Purdue, Stanford, Cincinnati, Stanford, Gonzaga, West Virginia and Xavier, among others.

All three members of the Bears’ signing class will join the program in the summer of 2020 as freshmen with four years of eligibility.

Baylor’s No. 24-ranked 2019-20 squad returns to action at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, which runs Thursday through Sunday. The Bears face Ohio at 3:30 p.m. CT Thursday on ESPN2, then take on either Utah or Coastal Carolina on Friday. The tournament wraps up on Sunday, with the Bears facing Villanova, Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee or Tulane.
