Baylor Track & Field Honored With 29 Academic All-Big 12 Selections

WACO, Texas – Twenty-nine Baylor student-athletes were named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Track & Field Team, the conference office announced.

Thirteen from the women’s team earned first team honors, including Alison Andrews-Paul, Sarah Antrich, Demitra Carter, Leticia De Souza, Amanda Dillon, Jacinta Fisher, Venae Jessurun, Jhane’ King, Alex Lord, Aaliyah Miller, Victoria Powell, Gabby Satterlee, and Megan SaxvanderWeyden.

On the men’s team, Ian Braxton, Cody Cunningham, Elijah Gifford, Matt Henderson, Danny Leland, Riley Richards, and Jalen Seals all earned first team accolades.

A total of 320 student-athletes earned recognition on the team, including 116 on the men’s team (92 first team and 24 second team) and 204 on the women’s squad (175 first team and 29 second team).

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
