THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – The No. 15 Bears battled back from a 3-0 deficit in the first inning to tie the ballgame up 3-3 with K-State at Baylor Ballpark, but the second weather delay of the game would stick and the game would be delayed until Saturday, May 4 at 2:05 p.m. CT

After two uncharacteristic errors by the Bears in the first inning, the Wildcats took full advantage of an extended inning against Baylor starter Paul Dickens, as Terrence Spurlin hit a three-run homer with two outs to put the Bears in a 3-0 hole early.

The Bears answered back in the bottom of the first inning, as Andy Thomas delivered a two-out bloop single to pull the Bears within one, 3-1.

Dickens started to cruise after the first, facing the minimum in the second and third, and following with zeros in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Bears tied the ballgame up in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Nick Loftin connected on his sixth homer of the year, a two-run shot to make it a 3-3 ballgame before the first weather delay of the game. After Loftin’s homer, the Bears had a 56-minute delay due to lightning.

The game picked back up in the bottom of the fifth with new pitchers for both sides. Baylor’s LHP Ryan Leckich took over in the top of the sixth and put up a zero.

In the bottom of the sixth against new K-State hurler Eric Torres, Cole Haring and Andy Thomas hit back-to-back singles to left to put the Bears in business, but the rain came in, forcing suspension of the game until Saturday.

The Bears and Wildcats will pick up in the bottom of the sixth with two on, one out and Josh Bissonette at the plate at 2:05 p.m. CT tomorrow at Baylor Ballpark. Game two of the series will follow approximately 30 minutes after the end of game one.
