Baylor Women’s Golf Heads to Metroplex for Bruzzy Challenge
Bears take on 15-team field with all teams top-90 ranked nationally

WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s golf wraps up the 2018-19 regular season at the Bruzzy Challenge, which runs Monday and Tuesday at Lantana (Texas) Golf Club. The 54-hole tournament will be played on a par-72, 6,421-yard course.

All 15 teams in the field are top-90 ranked in the latest Golfstat rankings. No. 35 Baylor is joined by No. 2 Texas, No. 19 TCU, No. 20 Miami, No. 28 Houston, No. 37 Iowa, No. 41 Ole Miss, No. 43 Texas Tech, No. 52 Maryland, No. 53 Texas A&M, No. 60 SMU, No. 66 Missouri, No. 84 BYU, No. 85 North Texas and No. 87 Kansas State.

Baylor’s lineup is led by Gurleen Kaur in the No. 1 spot for the fifth time in the team’s last six tournaments. She’s followed by Maria Vesga at No. 2, Erica Chiang at No. 3, Emma Bradley at No. 4 and Amelia McKee at No. 5. Jordan Shackelford will compete as an individual.

Kaur and Vesga are coming off top-10 finishes at the Evans Derby Experience, where they tied for eighth place at 1-over 217. It was Kaur’s second consecutive top-10 after another eighth place finish at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.

Chiang is both in the Baylor lineup for a fourth consecutive tournament, while McKee returns to the lineup for a second time and first since the Betsy Rawls Invitational in October. Vesga is appearing in the Baylor lineup for a 22nd consecutive tournament and 37th time out of 38 team tournaments during her four years at BU. Kaur is in the Bears’ lineup for a 12th straight tournament, and Bradley is making her fourth consecutive lineup appearance since enrolling as a freshman prior to the spring semester.

Teams will play two rounds on Monday, with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start for the first round. BU players are paired with golfers from Ole Miss and Maryland. Kaur will start on No. 11, while Chiang and Vesga will tee off from No. 12, Bradley starts on No. 13, McKee begins on No. 14 and Shackelford tees off from No. 18.

Teams will continue play in the same pairings for the second round on Monday, and Tuesday’s final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
