WACO, Texas – In its second of three home meets this season, the No. 1-ranked Baylor acrobatics and tumbling team defeated the No. 8-ranked Converse College Valkyries 284.735 to 270.415 Tuesday night inside the Ferrell Center.

Baylor (6-0) used six scores of 9.95 or higher, including one perfect 10, to hand the Valkyries (3-1) their first loss of the season. The Bears have scored over 280 total points in five of their six meets this year.

The Bears took an early 38.35 to 36.20 lead after scoring a 9.95 in two of the four compulsory heats and remained in front 67.60 to 65.35 after outscoring the Valkyries in the acro event.

Baylor extended its lead to 97.45 to 94.70 before halftime with a strong showing in pyramid that included a perfect 10 in the open heat of the event. It was the Bears’ fifth perfect 10 of the season and third in the open heat of pyramid.

The Bears began to pull away after the toss event, leading 126.950 to 121.750 through the first four events.

In tumbling, Baylor recorded impressive scores in all six heats, highlighted by Hope Bravo’s 9.95 score in the aerial pass and Kaylee Adams’ 9.975 score in the six element heat. The Bears took a 185.825 to 176.325 advantage into the team event, in which they scored a 98.91 to complete their total score.

The Bears have now won 25 consecutive meets dating back to the 2017 season. The Bears are 47-1 under fifth-year head coach Felecia Mulkey and are now 3-0 all-time against Converse.

Next up, the Bears will travel to Phoenix, Ariz. for a meet with Arizona Christian University on Saturday at 7 p.m. CST. The Bears will be back home for a rematch with No. 2 Oregon on April 7 at noon to close out the regular season.
