BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Wil London ran a school-record 45.16 to place third and earn All-America honors in the 400 meters, and the Baylor men’s 4x400-meter relay finished eighth to achieve All-America status as well on the final day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

London, running out of lane three for the second consecutive day, made more history as he lowered the time on his two-week old school record to 45.16. The senior from Waco, Texas, finished third in the 400 meters to finish his final indoor season as an All-American.

“Just an amazing performance,” head coach Todd Harbour said. “That was a fast, fast 400. This track may not be known as one of the fastest 200/400 tracks in the country, but what those guys did on this track today in that 400 was impressive. For Wil out of lane three, maybe one of the fastest times ever run out of lane three so he did an outstanding job.”

In the men’s 4x400-meter relay, Caleb Dickson filled in for London on the anchor leg alongside Matthew Moorer, Howard Fields III, and Jayson Baldridge as the Bears clocked in at 3:08.63 to finish eighth and garner All-America awards.

“I’m happy for the guys to pull out an All-America honor,” Harbour said. “We made the decision to pull Wil out right at the end because his hamstring was bothering him, but that was great to get All-American honors for those guys because they’re not easy to come by. They did a great job.”

Tuesdi Tidwell competed in her first national meet in the women’s pole vault and finished 14th with a jump of 13-7.75 (4.16m). The Early, Texas, native finished as a second team All-American.

“Tuesdi battled hard,” Harbour said. “She had to come in at basically what was her PR going into the conference meet two weeks ago, so that’s a pretty eye-opening deal for her having to start at places you haven’t started at all year. I was proud of her. She fought, and she’ll take some great experience from this and be back even stronger outdoors and the next couple years.”

The women’s 4x400-meter relay team of Victoria Powell, Aaliyah Miller, Sydney Washington and Kiana Horton finished as second team All-Americans as well with a time of 3:37.08, good for 11th place overall.

“The ladies, it just wasn’t our day,” Harbour said. “We just didn’t have our best day. That’s not reflective of the season those young ladies have had, so I feel for them. I know they are a little down, but we don’t have any time in our sport to feel too sorry for ourselves because we have outdoor season starting next week.”

The Bears are right back at it to kick off the outdoor season next week as they head to Los Angeles, Calif., for the USC Trojan Invitational. Action at Cromwell Field & Loker Track Stadium will take place Friday and Saturday (March 15-16).
