Baylor Men’s Golf Takes Third Place at Cabo Collegiate
Bears finished ahead of eight top-50 ranked teams

THE RUNDOWN
SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – Baylor men’s golf finished in third place at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate with a 54-hole total of 9-under-par 843. The Bears carded 4-over 288 in Tuesday’s final round at Los Cabos Querencia, finishing ahead of eight top-50 ranked teams.

No. 36 Baylor (-9) placed behind only No. 1 Oklahoma State (-32) and No. 9 Arizona State (-24). The Bears recorded head-to-head wins over No. 3 Vanderbilt (+6), No. 50 Arizona (+10), No. 12 LSU (+11), No. 48 Ole Miss (+14), No. 27 Florida State (+16), Houston (+28), No. 32 Arkansas (+33), Rice (+43), No. 19 Texas A&M (+43) and No. 14 Alabama (+62).

Baylor was led by junior Colin Kober, who posted a career-best fifth-place finish with a three-round total of 6-under-par 207, including a final round of 3-under 68. Cooper Dossey shot 4-over 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 18th place at even-par 213, finishing top-25 for the 18th time in his 26 career tournaments.

Garrett May shot 1-under 70 in the final round to climb into a tie for 36th place at 8-over 221, and Braden Bailey shot 4-over 75 to finish in 21st place at 1-over 214. Bailey earned his 27th top-25 finish in 43 career tournaments. Ryan Grider carded 7-over 78 and finished in a tie for 26th place at 4-over 217.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor recorded 60 birdies across three rounds, second-most in the 13-team field.
  *   Baylor ranked third in par-4 scoring at 6-over 4.04, tied for third in par-5 scoring at 12-under 4.73 and tied for eighth in par-3 scoring at 13-over 3.22.
  *   Kober tied for third in the 74-player field in par-4 scoring at 5-under 3.85, while Bailey tied for 10th at 1-under 3.97.
  *   Dossey tied for 13th in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00.
  *   Kober tied for ninth in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.56, while Dossey, May and Bailey tied for 16th at 3-under 4.67.
  *   Kober’s 15 birdies across 54 holes were second-most in the field, while Bailey tied for sixth with 13 birdies and Dossey tied for 12th with 12 birdies.

STAT OF THE DAY
5-under – Baylor finished strong, with the five players in the lineup combining to shoot 5-under on the back-9 with 10 birdies, five bogeys and 30 pars. Kober and Grider shot 2-under on the back-9, while May shot 1-under and Dossey and Bailey carded even-par.
