THE RUNDOWN
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Baylor women’s golfer Erica Chiang recorded her career-first top-10 finish to lead a group of four Bears competing as individuals at the ICON Invitational.



Chiang shot 1-over-par 217 across 54 holes to take eighth place in the 84-player field. Sophomore Gurleen Kaur and freshman Emma Bradley tied for 28th place at 7-over 223, and junior Fiona Liddell tied for 65th place at 18-over 234.



Chiang was tied for fifth place after shooting 1-under 71 in Monday’s first round. Second round play was suspended on Monday due to darkness, and players completed that round prior to the final round on Tuesday. Chiang posted an even-par 72 in the second round to move into a tie for sixth place entering the final round. She carded a 2-over 74 in the final round to finish with the second top-10 individual finish by a Baylor player this season.


HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Chiang’s eighth-place finish was the second-best by a Baylor player this season, trailing only Kaur’s sixth place at the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
  *   Chiang tied for fourth in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.75 and tied for seventh in par-4 scoring at 1-over 4.03.
  *   Bradley tied for third in par-3 scoring at 3-under 2.75.
  *   Kaur led the 84-player field with 42 pars across 54 holes, while Chiang tied for second in the tournament with 41 pars.
  *   Bradley posted a team-high eight birdies, which tied for 19th-most in the tournament.

STAT OF THE DAY
42 – Kaur made a tournament-leading 42 pars over three rounds. She had 14 pars in the first round, 15 pars in the second round and 13 pars in the final round. She recorded streaks of 10 consecutive pars across the first and second rounds, eighth consecutive pars to finish the tournament and seven consecutive pars in the first round.
