WACO, Texas – The No. 1-ranked Baylor acrobatics and tumbling team remained perfect in 2019 after defeating No. 3 Quinnipiac 280.775 to 269.675 Sunday at Ferrell Center.

The Bears (3-0) held a 96.85 to 95.10 lead at halftime after taking both of the first two events of the meet, but tied with the Bobcats (0-2) in the pyramid event with 29.30 points each.

Baylor edged Quinnipiac in the toss event 28.95 to 28.85 before showing its strength in the tumbling portion of the meet. Senior Hope Bravo scored a 9.925 in the aerial pass, Baylor’s highest scoring heat of the day, while senior Kaylee Adams tallied a 9.85 six element pass, and senior Bailey Hollier recorded a 9.85 in the open pass to extend the Bears overall lead.

The team event wrapped up the meet with Baylor outscoring Quinnipiac, 97.65 to 91.30 to seal the victory.

This was the first time the Bears and Bobcats have met since the 2018 National Championship, in which Baylor won the title 283.360 - 274.650 over Quinnipiac.

With the win, the Bears improve to 5-0 in home openers and 44-1 all-time under head coach Felecia Mulkey. The victory extends Baylor’s win streak to 22 consecutive meets, with its last loss coming on Feb. 25, 2017 at Oregon.

Up next, Baylor will face a tough test on the road at No. 2 Oregon on Sunday, March 3. The Bears and Ducks last met on April 27, 2018 in the national semifinals with the Bears coming out on top 281.410 to 277.725. Oregon is the only team to ever defeat Baylor during Mulkey’s five-year stint at the helm.

The Bears have two more home meets remaining this season, hosting No. 8 Converse College on March 26 and No. 2 Oregon on April 7 and will also host the 2019 NCATA National Championship, April 25-27.
