WACO, Texas- Baylor acrobatics & tumbling senior base/back base Ceara Gray was named the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Athlete of the Week, the organization announced Thursday evening.

Gray competed in nine heats in the Bears’ road win at East Texas Baptist University. She served as an individual base in the acro portion and first pyramid structure and was the main base in many of the group events. Baylor scored a 9.50 or higher in all of Gray’s events, including a perfect 10 in heat three of pyramid and three scores of 9.90 (compulsory toss, acro heat three, pyramid heat one).
After being named the 2018 NCATA Most Outstanding Player, Gray is regarded as one of the strongest bases in the country, being able to perform skills that only a handful of other athletes perform.

This is Gray’s third career NCATA weekly honor, having garnered Player of the Week honors twice before in 2018. Baylor has had at least one player honored by the NCATA in seven consecutive weeks, dating back to last season.
