Baylor Men’s Golf Finishes 13th at Fighting Illini Invite
Bailey and Grider finish tied for 38th place individually

THE RUNDOWN
OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. – Baylor men’s golf finished in 13th place at the Fighting Illini Invite after shooting 47-over-par 887 across three rounds at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club. The Bears carded 17-over 297 in Sunday’s final round.

Cooper Dossey posted the Bears’ best final round with a 3-over 73 to finish tied for 53rd place at 15-over 225. Garrett May and Braden Bailey recording matching final rounds of 4-over 74, with Bailey finishing in a tie for 38th place at 10-over 220 and May tying for 53rd place at 15-over 225. Ryan Grider carded BU’s final counting score on Sunday with a 6-over 76 to finish tied for 38th place at 10-over 220.

Colin Kober shot 7-over 77 in the final round and finished in 59th place at 17-over 227, and Travis McInroe, who was competing as an individual, shot 12-over 82 on Sunday to finish tied for 60th place at 18-over 228.

The Bears (+47) finished in front of Air Force (+82). BU placed behind Oklahoma State (-11), USC (+7), California (+16), Alabama (+18), UNLV (+20), Illinois (+22), Texas A&M (+25), Stanford (+27), South Carolina (+28), Florida State (+36), Indiana (+40) and Purdue (+46).

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor finished ninth in par-3 scoring at 12-over 3.20, 11th in par-5 scoring at 2-over 5.07 and 12th in par-4 scoring at 53-over 4.29.
  *   BU recorded the 10th-most pars with 158 and finished 12th with 27 birdies.
  *   Ryan Grider tied for fourth in the 75-player field with a 2-under, 2.83 par-3 scoring average.
  *   Grider tied for 10th in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.67.
  *   Garrett May tied for fifth with 38 pars across 54 holes.
  *   Cooper Dossey led the team and tied for 15th overall with eight birdies.
  *   Braden Bailey and Travis McInroe tied for 25th with seven birdies apiece.

STAT OF THE DAY
30-over – Baylor’s six players posted a combined score of 30-over across a 10-hole stretch between the fifth and 14 holes. The Bears didn’t make any birdies in that stretch, and they combined to shoot 6-over on the remaining eight holes.
