THE RUNDOWN
OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. – Baylor men’s golf shot 18-over-par 298 in Saturday’s second round of the Fighting Illini Invitational, moving the Bears into 12th place at 30-over 590 entering Sunday’s final round at Olympia Fields.

The Bears (+30) lead Purdue (+35) and Air Force (+53). BU trails Oklahoma State (-9), California (-1), Alabama (+7), USC (+8), UNLV (+9), South Carolina (+11), Illinois (+11), Texas A&M (+14), Florida State (+16), Stanford (+18) and Indiana (+21).

Braden Bailey posted the Bears’ best round of the day at 2-over 72 to move into a tie for 40th place at 6-over 146. Bailey was 4-over through nine holes, then made three straight birdies on Nos. 1, 2 and 3. Ryan Grider carded a 4-over 74 to move into a tie for 31st place at 4-over 144, while Garrett May carded 5-over 75 to sit in a tie for 58th place at 11-over 151.

Both Cooper Dossey and Colin Kober shot 7-over 77, with Kober moving to a tie for 55th place at 10-over 150 and Dossey moving into a tie for 62nd place at 12-over 152. Travis McInroe, who is playing as an individual, shot 7-over 77 and is tied for 40th place at 6-over 146.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor ranks seventh in the 14-team field in par-3 scoring at 5-over 3.13, 12th in par-4 scoring at 25-over 4.29 and 13th in par-5 scoring at 3-over 5.15.
  *   BU ranks ninth in the field with 104 pars made and tied for 10th with 20 birdies.
  *   Ryan Grider is tied for second in the 75-player field in par-3 scoring at 2-under 2.75.
  *   Cooper Dossey is tied for 11th in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00.
  *   Travis McInroe and Braden Bailey are tied for 19th in par-4 scoring at 2-over 4.08.
  *   Grider is tied for 17th in par-5 scoring at 1-under 4.75.
  *   McInroe is tied for ninth in the field with seven birdies, while Bailey and Dossey are tied for 14th with six birdies apiece.
  *   Garrett May and Grider are tied for 16th in the tournament with 24 pars across 36 holes.

STAT OF THE DAY
3 – Braden Bailey made three consecutive birdies on Nos. 1, 2 and 3 after sitting at 4-over midway through his round. He made one of 15 birdies on No. 1 in the second round, one of nine birdies on No. 2 and one of eight birdies on No. 3. No other player in the field made birdies on all three holes, and only four players made two birdies over the first three holes on the course.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor tees off from No. 10 for Sunday’s final round in pairings with Stanford and Indiana. Dossey has the Bears’ first tee time at 8 a.m. CT, and he’ll be followed in nine-minute intervals by May, Kober, Bailey and Grider, respectively.
