THE RUNDOWN
SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – Baylor women’s golf sits in 12th place after shooting 19-over-par 303 in Saturday’s second round of the Battle at the Beach. The Bears are 39-over entering Sunday’s final round at Club Campestre San Jose.

Baylor (+39) leads New Mexico (+44), Denver (+47), Iowa (+59), Tulsa (+61) and UAB (+63). The Bears trail Auburn (-3), Vanderbilt (+7), Texas (+13), Clemson (+13), Oklahoma (+16), TCU (+17), Missouri (+19), Mississippi State (+20), Houston (+31), Virginia (+32) and Tulane (+38).

Erica Chiang, who is competing as an individual, carded Baylor’s best round of the tournament with an even-par 71 on Saturday to move into a tie for 25th place individually at 5-over 147. Amelia McKee and Jordan Shackelford are also competing as individuals, and McKee shot 2-over 73 to move into a tie for 37th place at 7-over 149, while Shackelford shot 3-over 74 and is tied for 59th place at 12-over 154.

Maria Vesga posted the best score among players in the Baylor lineup with a second round of 2-over 73 to climb into a tie for 70th place at 15-over 157. Fiona Liddell and Gurleen Kaur carded matching rounds of 5-over 76, with Liddell now tied for 37th place at 7-over 149 and Kaur tied for 51st place at 10-over 152.

Diane Baillieux posted the Bears’ final counting score on Saturday with a 7-over 78 to move into a tie for 59th place at 12-over 154, while Laila Hrindova shot 10-over 81 and is tied for 81st place at 18-over 160.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor ranks 11th in the 17-team field in par-5 scoring at 7-over 5.18, tied for 12th in par-4 scoring at 40-over 4.44 and 12th in par-3 scoring at 15-over 3.30.
  *   The Baylor lineup has combined to make 97 pars, which is tied for 11th-most in the tournament, and the Bears are tied for 13th with 16 birdies.
  *   Erica Chiang is tied for 13th in the 92-player field in par-4 scoring at 2-over 4.11.
  *   Gurleen Kaur is tied for 17th in par-3 scoring at 1-over 3.10.
  *   Fiona Liddell is tied for 15th in par-5 scoring at 1-under 4.88.
  *   Chiang is tied for fourth in the field with 26 pars across 36 holes, while Amelia McKee is tied for 19th with 23 pars.
  *   Jordan Shackelford leads all Baylor players with six birdies, which is tied for 16th in the field.

STAT OF THE DAY
14 – Erica Chiang made 14 pars in Saturday’s second round, which led the team and tied for seventh-most in the field. Chiang birdied Nos. 2 and 13 and made bogeys on Nos. 9 and 11.
