WACO, Texas -- Baylor football has added four quality control coaches and a pair of graduate assistants to the 2024 coaching staff, it was announced by Coach Dave Aranda.



The Bears have hired Mark Scott to lead Baylor’s special teams, with Scott coming to Baylor after serving as the special teams coordinator at Houston from 2020-23.



In addition to Scott on the quality control staff, Baylor has added Duke DaRe, Weston Glaser and Kyle Segler, while also welcoming a pair of graduate assistants in Chris Orr and Elijah McQueen.



Scott, a native of Defiance, Ohio, comes to the Bears after spending the 2020-23 seasons as the special teams coordinator at Houston, part of a five-year run with the Cougars that began in 2019 as an analyst working with special teams. Scott previously worked with the special teams units in multiple roles at West Virginia from 2012-18, with coaching stops at Trine University, the University of Indianapolis and his alma mater, Hillsdale College.



A native of Clayton, Calif., DaRe joins the Bears after spending the 2023 season as a graduate assistant coach with the defense at Northwestern in Chicago. He earned degrees from UC Santa Barbara – where he played basketball – and San Francisco before joining the Northwestern program.



Glaser returns to his hometown of Waco after serving as the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Northwestern [La.] State. He was tabbed the interim head coach midway through the 2023 season. His first season with the Demons came in 2022 as the defensive coordinator, earning a promotion to assistant head coach and DC for the 2023 season. Glaser previously served as the Campbell defensive coordinator and in 2021 added assistant head coach duties. A former Sam Houston quarterback, Glaser spent three seasons with the Bearkats from 2010-12 – helping SHSU to a 31-10 record with two Southland Conference titles and consecutive trips to the national championship game. He worked with UTEP’s linebackers and defensive backs from 2013-15 and also made coaching stops at Texas A&M (2016) and at Howard Payne (2018).



Segler will join the Baylor staff after serving as the tight ends coach and special teams coordinator at Louisiana-Monroe in 2022, which followed eight years on the staff at Sam Houston. He helped the Bearkats to a 86-27 record from 2010-17, with three Southland titles, seven NCAA FCS playoff appearances and six seasons with 11+ wins. A former Sam Houston offensive lineman, Segler spent the 2009 season at Lon Morris College before joining his alma mater for the 2010 season.



Orr, a former Wisconsin linebacker, Chris joins the Baylor staff as a graduate assistant after playing in 50 career games for the Badgers from 2015-19. He totaled 187 tackles in his career, with 20 for a loss and 14 sacks, totaling two picks, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 10 pass break-ups. He started all 14 games in his senior season as a team captain in 2019, with 79 tackles, 14 TFLs and 11.5 sacks, owning eight QB hurries. A native of DeSoto, Texas, Orr was coached in 2015 by Aranda as his DC and position coach at Wisconsin, his last season with UW before joining the LSU staff. Orr played with the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and was the Director of Player Development at Wisconsin in 2021. He has been drafted by the New Jersey Generals in the USFL in 2022, and the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL dispersal draft in 2024. He comes from a decorated football family as his father is two-time Super Bowl Champion tight end Terry Orr, both brothers, Zach and Nick, played professional football and Zach is the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, which followed an All-Pro career with the ravens from 2014-16.



McQueen joins the staff as a graduate assistant after helping UTSA to a 9-4 season in 2023 in his lone season in San Antonio. The Roadrunners went 7-1, including 5-1 at home, during their transition season into the American Athletic Conference in 2023. McQueen helped with UTSA’s safeties during the season, helping corner-turned-safety Ken Robinson lead the team in tackles. Robinson played opposite UTSA safety Rashad Wisdom at safety, a stalwart on the back-end of the Roadrunners defense that saw him total 312 tackles over a 57-game career.



The Bears will host their annual Green & Gold Game on April 20 at McLane Stadium at 12 p.m. on ESPN+. The season lid-lifter will come on Aug. 31, hosting Tarleton.
