WACO, Texas -- Baylor football has added the best high school prospect in Mississippi, four-star defensive lineman Alex Foster, and a three-star safety from Missouri City, Texas, Josh Lair, to its 2024 newcomer class, it was announced on Wednesday.



The Bears bump their newcomer class up to 24 total prospects, inclusive of the early signing period in December, transfer portal additions from the last two months, and the inking of Foster and Lair on Wednesday. In addition, kicker Connor Hawkins, a product of Austin’s Liberty Hill High School, will join the roster in 2024.



Foster, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound defensive lineman is the top-ranked prospect in the state of Mississippi. A product of St. Joseph High School in Greenville, Foster is a four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 152 recruit by On3.



Lair is a 6-1, 185-pound standout safety out of Houston, Texas, and a product of Fort Bend Marshall High School. He is considered one of the top safety prospects in the nation, owning nearly 30 scholarship offers after helping Marshall to the playoffs for three consecutive years.



Since announcing 15 athletes in the early signing period in December, Baylor has added eight future Bears to the class, which features six transfers including Jamaal Bell (WR, Nevada), Kurt Danneker (OL, Ohio), Ashtyn Hawkins (WR, Texas State), Steve Linton (DL, Texas Tech), Kendrick Simpkins (S, Western Kentucky) and Michael Trigg (TE, Ole Miss).
