WACO, Texas – Five Baylor football players received All-Texas honors from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, as announced by the publication on Thursday.

Sixth-year senior offensive lineman Jacob Gall headlined BU’s praise as the Best Offensive Lineman in the state. Gall, a first-team selection, was joined by fifth-year senior offensive lineman Connor Galvin, junior defensive lineman Siaki Ika and fifth-year senior tight end Ben Sims as second-team honorees.

Freshman running back Richard Reese was previously named the DCTF Offensive Freshman of the Year on Wednesday to round out Baylor’s 2022 honors.

Gall, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, was an All-Big 12 Second Team member this season after starting all 12 games at center for the Bears. He also received votes for Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year. A Buffalo transfer, Gall graded out as the seventh-best center in college football this year, and second-best in the conference, with an 80.5 rating by Pro Football Focus.

A native of Katy, Texas, Galvin broke BU’s career games started record at 49 after locking down the left tackle position. He was also named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, just one year removed from collecting Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year recognition. Galvin graded out as the third-best tackle in the conference by Pro Football Focus and the 54th-best in the nation with a 76.5 rating.

Ika had yet another strong season for Baylor a year after being named Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year. The 6-foot-4, 358-pound tackle played in all 12 games with 11 starts, totaling 24 tackles, including two for a loss. He added two pass breakups and five QB hurries en route to a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team and honorable mention distinction for the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year.

A product of San Antonio, Texas, Sims caught 31 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns in his fifth season wearing the green and gold. He also took one carry for his second-career rushing touchdown at West Virginia. Sims was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after becoming BU’s all-time leader in receiving touchdowns by a tight end (12), ranking second in career receptions (78) and fourth in career receiving yards (785) by a tight end.

The Bears (6-6) will face Air Force (9-3) in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl on Dec. 22 in Fort Worth. The bowl game is set for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff and will be televised on ESPN.
