Baylor Football Duo Named AP Preseason All-Americans

WACO, Texas – A pair of Baylor football players were named to the Associated Press Preseason All-America Team in fifth-year senior OL Connor Galvin and junior DL Siaki Ika, as announced Monday by the publication.

Both Galvin and Ika picked up second-team honors in advance of the upcoming 2022 season.

Galvin, a native of Katy, Texas, garnered multiple All-America honors in 2021, including first-team praise by The Athletic and third-team accolades by the AP. He was named to the All-Big 12 First Team by both the league’s head coaches and the media after starting all 14 games for the Bears last year. The left tackle is no stranger to preseason hype, having collected preseason All-America honors by five other publications, preseason All-Big 12 recognition, and spots on the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award watch lists.

Ika, a product of Salt Lake City, Utah, was named the 2021 Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year and also received votes for Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year. He earned a spot on the AP’s All-Big 12 First Team and was a second-team selection as voted by the league’s head coaches after tallying four sacks and six tackles for loss a season ago. Ika has also found himself on a wealth of preseason All-America lists, having been named by four other publications in addition to his preseason All-Big 12 praise and spots on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Outland Trophy, Bednarik Award and Polynesian Player of the Year watch lists.
