WACO, Texas – Baylor football senior wide receiver Tyquan Thornton has been added to the 2021 Biletnikoff Award Watch List, as announced Wednesday by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club.

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season’s most outstanding FBS receiver. Any player who catches a pass, regardless of position, is eligible for the award.

Thornton has racked up 601 receiving yards on 37 receptions and scored five touchdowns through eight games this season, leading BU in all three categories. He currently ranks third in the Big 12 in receiving TDs and fourth in the league in receiving yards.

The Miami, Fla., product currently sits 16th on Baylor’s all-time career receiving yards list (1,895) and 19th in career receptions (118).

After naming 51 pass-catchers to the initial preseason watch list, the Biletnikoff Award has issued five installments of additions, most recently featuring Thornton. After six players had been removed from consideration due to season-ending injury, player’s withdrawal due to COVID concerns or other ineligible factors, the award’s watch list now sits at 69 total players.

The semifinalists, finalists and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, former Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers.

Semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 15, with the top three finalists set to be announced on Nov. 23. The 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner will be announced as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 9, on ESPN.
