Ebner, Pitre, Bernard Highlight AP All-Big 12 Team
Returner Trestan Ebner and safety Jalen Pitre earned first team distinction, while linebacker Terrel Bernard was named to the second team

WACO, Texas – Senior Trestan Ebner (all-purpose) and junior Jalen Pitre (safety) were named First Team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press on Thursday, while junior Terrel Bernard (linebacker) was tabbed to the second team.

Ebner finished the season second in the Big 12 in kick return average (32.2) and first kick return touchdowns with his two in the season opener against Kansas. The Tyler, Texas native was fourth in the Big 12 in all-purpose yards with 116.3 per game, a majority of those coming in the return game. Earlier, Ebner was named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year and Second Team All-Texas after his performance in the 2020 season.

Pitre ended his junior campaign 13th in the Big 12 in tackles per game with 6.7, while leading the team in total tackles with 60 and tackles-for-loss with 13. He was also third in the Big 12 and 28th nationally in tackles-for-loss per game (1.44). In addition, Pitre was third on the team in sacks with 2.5 and the first Baylor player to have two interception returns for TD in same season. Last week he earned First Team All-Big 12 honors, while additionally being named First Team All-Texas earlier this week.

Through five games, Bernard was leading the Big 12 in tackles per contest with 11.0, while fourth in the conference in sacks per game (.70) and tackles-for-loss (1.30), before his season-ending shoulder injury suffered at Iowa State (Nov. 7). Bernard finished the season with 55 total tackles, including 6.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks. A week ago, he was named Second Team All-Big 12 for his efforts.
