Defensive Passing Game Coordinator/ Cornerbacks coach at Baylor, it was announced by head coach Dave Aranda.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Gonzales comes to Baylor after establishing himself as one of the top secondary assistant coaches in college football over 13 years at TCU, coming up under former Horned Frogs
head coach Gary Patterson before continuing on the staff under current TCU head coach Sonny Dykes.

and safeties played over his career. I believe he will be a tremendous mentor for our cornerbacks and will be able to step right into our coaching staff and hit the ground running. I am excited to work alongside Paul and know he will be a great fit for our

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">A native of San Jose, Calif., Gonzales has spent the last seven seasons coaching the safeties for the Horned Frogs, which followed three seasons as the cornerbacks coach, and
three as a graduate assistant with the safeties and linebackers, before being promoted by Patterson to full-time cornerbacks coach for the final three stanzas.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Gonzales also coached at Pacific (2010-11) before joining Patterson’s staff in Fort Worth. He coached defensive backs at his alma matter, UC Davis from 2008-09 after a season
as an assistant coach at Pioneer High School in California. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">The former UC Davis baseball letterwinner has had a hand in developing six safeties into NFL players in his last seven seasons and helped the safety group – led by Millard
Bradford and Bud Clark – lead the Horned Frogs into the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Clark, who was signed by Gonzales as a four-star prospect out of Louisiana for the 2020 season, had five interceptions during the 2022 season,
including a 41-yard return of a pick vs. Michigan in the CFP Semifinal win over Michigan.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">His most recent group helped TCU to a 9-4 season and a 6-3 mark in Big 12 Conference play in 2024. Jamel Johnson ranked third on the team in tackles, making 73 stops and breaking
up three passes. Clark continued to shine, ranking fourth on the team in stops, 67, while picking up three passes, breaking up three and forcing a fumble. Senior Abe Camara had 55 tackles with six pass break-ups and two forced fumbles.

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">Gonzales also helped mentor Tre’von Moehrig into the 2020 Jim Thorpe Award as the nation’s best defensive back. The second-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, Moehrig
was named an All-America during his 2020 campaign. Playing safety alongside Ar’Darius Washington in 2019, Moehrig was named first-team all-conference and Pro Football Focus rated the duo as the nation’s top-two safeties. Washington went on to earn freshman
All-America recognition in 2019 and has played for the Baltimore Ravens since 2021.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">He coached cornerbacks in the full-time role from 2015-17, with his defenders helping TCU rank first in the Big 12 in fewest touchdown passes allowed (17) and opponent completion
percentage (49.8), while ranking second in the league in pass efficiency defense (112.6). Ranthony Texada was named second-team all-conference in 2016 under his tutelage and earned All-America and first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors in 2017.
