<p style="background:white"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the award recipient is selected by a vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee. The 2022 Mackey Award recipient will
be presented on December 8, 2022, at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background:white"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Sims has played in 31 career games with 20 starts. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he has 47 career receptions, including a career-best 31 for 361 yards and six touchdowns in 2021. The
former Clark Cougar also added a rushing touchdown on his career-first carry against Texas on Oct. 30, 2021. His nine touchdown receptions are the most by a tight end in BU history, while his 47 career receptions rank as the fifth-most by a tight end in program
history.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background:white"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">The senior was previously named to the 2022 All-Big 12 Team, Athlon All-Big 12 First Team, Phil Steele All-Big 12 First Team and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football All-Texas First Team.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="background:white"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">NFL Hall of Fame member John Mackey is considered to be the best to have played the tight end position. A tight end by which all others are measured, Mackey was a role model on and off
the field, as demonstrated by his Super Bowl Championship, his commitment to community, and his place in history as the first President of the NFLPA.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
