to the Sporting News Midseason All-America First Team, the publication announced Thursday.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;" class=""><span style="background:white" class="">Akinjo is one of fifteen players named to the three teams and is the only Big 12 player to make the first team. Kansas’ Ochai Agbaji, who made
the second team, is the only other Big 12 player listed.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: white;" class="">A transfer from Arizona, Akinjo leads the Big 12 with 5.7 assists per game. He also ranks third in steals per game (2.06), fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio
(1.83), seventh in field goal percentage (.434) and eighth in points per game (13.9). He was also named to the Wooden Award Top-25 Midseason watch list earlier this month.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: white;" class="">An Oakland, Calif., native, Akinjo has earned Big 12 Player of the Week (Jan. 3) and Big 12 Newcomer of the Week (Jan. 10) honors this season.</span><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;" class="">
<span style="background:white" class="">He missed Tuesday’s win at West Virginia while recovering from injury, but has scored 14+ points in eight of his last nine games played and has started 17 of 18 games for the No. 5-ranked Bears.</span></span></p>
