his work on and off the field, fifth-year senior Andy Thomas was one of 30 student-athletes selected as candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award, it was announced on Thursday.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white">In 2021, Thomas has started all 29 games at catcher while posting a .321 batting average, five home runs, six doubles, 26 runs scored and a team-high
31 RBI. In addition, he has tallied 11 multi-hit games while helping the Bears to their 19-10 record.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white">Thomas is not only a stellar athlete on the field, but he is also a great student in the classroom. The fifth-year senior graduated with a degree
in marketing with a 3.44 GPA in May of 2020. Last year he was awarded the 2020 Dr. Prentice Gautt Big 12 Postgraduate Scholarship. In addition, he has made the First Team Big 12 All-Academic Team all four years at BU. He is currently working on his MBA and
has a perfect 4.0 GPA.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character

<i>Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School</i>, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in May, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system
to media, coaches, and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C’s of community, classroom, character, and competition.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
