side of the ball on Saturday against Texas, junior Terrel Bernard was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.</span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white">Bernard tied his career-high with an impressive 19 tackles, including nine solo, two tackles-for-loss, one sack and a pass breakup. His two 19-tackle
performances (19 tackles vs. TCU last season) are the most by any Baylor player since 2011. The 19 takedowns are the most by a Big 12 player this season and second most in a college football game so far in 2020.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;background:white">The double-digit tackle performance is his sixth dating back to last season. In only three games this year, Bernard has totaled 40 tackles which
is second best in the Big 12, while he is averaging a league-best 13.3 per contest, with the conference's secondary leader averaging just 9.0 tackles per game. His 13.3 tackles per game are fourth in the nation, while his sacks per game (1.17) rank first in
the Big 12 and ninth in the country. In addition, his 1.83 tackles-for-loss per game is tied for the best in the conference.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
