got off to a strong start after the first day of the ITA Texas Regionals, going 7-1 in doubles action Friday at Waco Regional Tennis Center.

Three Bears pairings went 2-0 and booked spots in their bracket’s finals as top-seeded Charlie Broom/Sven Lah will take on teammates and No. 2-seed Matias Soto/Nick Stachowiak in the Red Bracket championship, while Finn Bass/Spencer Furman earned a place in
the White Bracket final.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black;letter-spacing:.25pt">Broom/Lah secured victories over duos from UTA and Louisiana, Soto/Stachowiak made quick work of teams from BYU and Texas, and Bass/Furman took
care of pairings from Lamar and UTA.<br>

Rahul Dhokia/Sebastian Nothhaft rebounded from a first round loss to pull even on the day with an 8-7(2) victory over Texas Tech’s Johnson/Vittar in a Blue Bracket consolation match.<br>

Due to inclement weather, only two rounds of doubles were played on the tournament’s opening day. As a result, two singles rounds are scheduled for Saturday with the doubles finals to come on Sunday.<br>

All eight Bears will compete in singles action tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m. CT.
