</span></b><b><span style="font-size:11.0pt">HOCKLEY, Texas – </span></b><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Baylor men’s golf started off the 2020 Big 12 Match Play Championship with a 4-2 victory over TCU on Friday morning at Golf Club at Houston Oaks.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">The Bears got individual victories from Johnny Keefer, Colin Kober, Cooper Dossey and Ryan Grider to clinch the match. Keefer got the Bears on the board first with a
4&2 win over TCU’s Spencer Ball. Keefer was 2-down after four holes, but didn’t lose another hole the rest of the way. He won the fifth and seventh holes to bring it all-square, and took the lead for good by winning the 12<sup>th</sup> hole. He then won the
13<sup>th</sup>, 14<sup>th</sup> and 16<sup>th</sup> holes to secure the win.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Kober was close behind, giving the Bears a second point with a 4&3 win over TCU’s Jacob Olesen. Kober jumped out to a 5-up lead by winning the first, third, fourth, seventh
and eighth holes. After Olesen cut the lead to 3-up after 11 holes, Kober won the 12<sup>th</sup> and 13<sup>th</sup> to go back to 5-up, and he clinched the match by halving the 15<sup>th</sup> hole.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">The Bears trailed most of the day in the four remaining pairings, but Dossey and Grider rallied to win their matches. Dossey took a 1-up win over TCU’s Aymeric Laussot.
He won the second hole to go 1-up, but Laussot won the next two to reverse the score, and the match remained all-square from the fifth through 11<sup>th</sup> holes. Laussot won thew 12<sup>th</sup> and 13<sup>th</sup> holes to put Dossey 2-down with five
to play, but Dossey won the 14<sup>th</sup>, 16<sup>th</sup> and 17<sup>th</sup> holes to take the lead, and he secured the match by halving the final hole.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Grider clinched the match for the Bears with a 2-up victory over Mateo Fernandez. Neither player was more than 1-up for the entire match until Grider won the final hole,
and Grider led for only one of the first 16 holes. Fernandez was 1-up with three to play, but Grider brought the match all-square with a win on the 16<sup>th</sup> hole, then won the 17<sup>th</sup> hole to go 1-up and officially clinch the match for the Bears.
Grider won the final hole to punctuate the win.<br>

<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Brandon Hoff dropped a 1-up match against TCU’s Chris Berzina. Hoff never led in the match, but the largest deficits he faced were 2-down after nine and 14 holes. Both
times Hoff fell 2-down he responded with a win to cut it to 1-down, but Berzina held on to win the match 1-up.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Freshman Trey Bosco fell 3&2 in his match against TCU’s Gustav Frimodt. Bosco never led in the match, but he kept it within two holes until dropping the 16<sup>th</sup>
holes to end the match. Frimodt was 2-up through six holes, but Bosco responded by winning the next two holes to bring the match all-square through eight. Frimodt won the ninth,12<sup>th</sup> and 16<sup>th</sup> holes to secure the match.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText" align="left" style="text-align:left"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Baylor had the afternoon off, while the other four teams in Pool A competed. BU will play two matches Saturday and two more on Sunday. The Bears face Oklahoma at 8 a.m.
CT Saturday, then take on West Virginia in the afternoon. BU wraps up pool play against Iowa State at 8 a.m. Sunday, and the Bears will face a team from Pool B in the afternoon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
