their respective 200-meter premier races to highlight day one for Baylor track & field at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational on the campus of the University of Iowa.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">“It was a good first day,” head coach Todd Harbour said. “A lot of good experience for the young ones. In the long jump, Caira (Pettway) did an outstanding job. Mikayla (Deshazer)
– that was a good throw for her, a young freshman. She did an outstanding job. Will (Anderson) and Elijah (Gifford) had good 600s. Overall it was a good start.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">In the women’s 200 meters premier, Ayers clocked a time of 24.48 to finish fourth overall and second among collegiate runners.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Jackson led a strong 200 meters premier race for Baylor, as he finished second overall with a time of 21.33. Ryan Croson (21.75) took fifth, Isaiah Cunningham (21.76) placed
sixth, and Hasani Barr (21.96) finished eighth. Jayson Baldridge also had a big day, winning the first 200 meters race with a time of 21.83.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">“The 200s were really good,” Harbour added. “Two freshmen, Mariah and Kam, both ended up second. Those were probably the highlights.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The day started off with two solid performances by Deshazer. The freshman from Kansas City, Mo., placed fourth in the women’s shot put with a mark of 46-7.25 (14.20m) and eighth
in the women’s weight throw at 47-7 (14.50m).<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Anderson took third in the men’s 600 meters with a time of 1:20.32, followed by Gifford in fifth at 1:21.29.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Pettway opened up the indoor season with a strong third-place finish in the women’s long jump, posting an indoor personal-best mark of 19-3.5 (5.88m).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
