</span></b><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">Baylor senior linebacker Clay Johnston was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, while redshirt freshman kicker John Mayers was named Big 12 Co-Special Teams Player of
the Week, it was announced today by the Conference office. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">The honor is the first of the season for Johnston and the second of his career. It is the first such honor of Mayers’ young career.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">Johnston led a staunch Baylor defense that held Iowa State’s potent offensive scoreless through the first three quarters. He tallied 13 tackles in the 23-21 victory,
his second-straight multi-tackle performance and ninth of his career. 11 of those 13 tackles came in the first half, while he also added 1.0 sack 1.5 TFLs, 2 pass breakups and 1 QB hurry.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">Mayers played hero for the Bears in the 23-21 victory over Iowa State, knocking home his first career field goal when it mattered most, a 38-yarder with 21 seconds
left in the game, lifting the Bears over the Cyclones. He was also 2-for-2 in extra point attempts. Mayers was named Co-Special Teams Player of the Week with TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor.
