<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><b>IRVING, Texas</b> – Baylor sophomore kicker Connor Martin was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Martin is the first BU player to earn the honor since 2014.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing">Martin earned the award after a career day vs. No. 3 Oklahoma. He made four of five field goals, including career-longs of 41 and 46 yards, while going 3-for-3 on PATs for a career-high 15 points. His two 40-yard field goals were a first
for BU since Aaron Jones (42, 44) at Texas on Oct. 20, 2012 and his four made field goals tied the program record with seven others (last was Chris Callahan vs. Kansas in 2014).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Frisco, Texas native is the first Bear to garner the honor since Callahan on Nov. 10, 2014. Martin gives Baylor its 11<sup>th</sup> Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week award and is the fourth kicker in program history to win
the accolade (Callahan in 2014, Aaron Jones in 2011 and Ryan Havens in 2005).<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">Through four games this season, Martin ranks 21st in the FBS and first in the Big 12 in field goal percentage (85.7) and 24th and first in field goals made per game (1.5).<o:p></o:p></p>
