KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 20 Baylor women’s basketball fell to Colorado, 62-53, in the quarterfinal round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament on Friday night at T-Mobile Center after a second-half comeback bid came up short. The Bears trailed by as many as 17 points in the second quarter before climbing back late and cutting the deficit to seven in the fourth quarter.

Baylor (24-8) battled back defensively after halftime, holding Colorado (22-10) to just eight points off three field goals in the fourth quarter.

Colorado used a hot start to build its advantage, taking a 20-10 lead after the first quarter. Baylor settled in during the second period but went into halftime trailing 37-25.

The Bears scored a game-high six field goals in the third quarter, with two falling from deep from Jana Van Gytenbeek and Taliah Scott, as each team traded five-point scoring runs.

Baylor carried momentum into the final period, opening the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run, aided by Ella Brow’s first pair of field goals as a Bear that included a 3-point basket. The Bears cut the lead to as few as seven three times in the fourth quarter, but foul shots pushed the final deficit back out to nine.

Scott led Baylor with 14 points in 35 minutes, while Darianna Littlepage-Buggs added 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for her 13th double-double on the season. Kyla Abraham also scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench and Yuting Deng contributed six points and six boards.

Colorado was led by Desiree Wooten with 21 points, while Zyanna Walker added 19.

Baylor finished with a 37-33 rebounding advantage and scored 24 bench points. The Bears also limited Colorado to eight points in the fourth quarter while forcing 15 turnovers on the night.

The Bears will await the NCAA DI Women's Basketball March Madness Selection Show Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN.
