FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 18 Baylor women’s basketball battled back, couldn’t fully erase an early hole in a 65-53 road loss to TCU on Sunday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena.

Baylor (24-7, 13-5 Big 12) trailed for most of the day after a slow offensive start, shooting 24% in the first half as TCU (27-4, 15-3 Big 12) built a 26-15 lead at the break. The Bears opened the game 2-for-9 in the first quarter and finished the half 6-for-25 from the floor.

Despite the early deficit, Baylor found its rhythm coming out of halftime. The Bears shot 7-for-14 in the third quarter and scored 19 points to keep pace, trimming a 19-point TCU advantage down to 12 entering the fourth.

Marcayla Johnson provided a spark off the bench, scoring 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Taliah Scott led Baylor with 17 points and four assists, including 13 points in the final period as the Bears continued to push. Kiersten Johnson added seven points, while Darianna Littlepage-Buggs grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go with seven points.

Baylor twice cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter. Scott’s 3-pointer with 4:29 remaining made it 55-47, but TCU answered on the next possession to halt the momentum and kept the Bears from getting closing in.

For the game, Baylor shot 34.5% from the floor and went 5-for-27 from beyond the arc. The Bears forced 18 turnovers and scored 15 points off those miscues, while also getting 14 points from the bench.

TCU shot 39.6% overall and was paced by Marta Suárez’s 21 points and 11 rebounds and Olivia Miles’ 19 points. TCU also held a 38-31 edge on the glass and outscored Baylor 26-12 in the paint.

The Bears have secured the No. 3 seed for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, facing the winner of Kansas/UCF and Colorado on Friday night at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN+ and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
