CLEMSON, S.C. – Sophomore Karynton Dawson racked up four RBIs to help propel Baylor softball past the Lipscomb Bisons 6-4 on Friday.
Sophomore Lexie Warncke (2-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Baylor (10-2). The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on three hits, allowing two walks and striking out five, one off her career high.
Dawson went 2-for-4 with a double in addition to her four RBIs for the Bears. Junior Abi Flores compiled a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-2 with a walk. Sophomore Faith Piper also contributed for Baylor, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
RUNDOWN
The Bears struck first, starting the scoring three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Dawson.
After the Bisons rallied to tie the ballgame at three, the Bears came back to retake the lead in the fourth inning. After creating some chaos on the base paths with her career-first stolen base, freshman Kaygen Marshall came across to score the lone run of the inning that gave the Bears a 4-3 edge.
In the seventh, the Bears picked up two runs when a single from Dawson brought home Flores and senior Brooklyn Carter. Lipscomb added a run in the bottom of the frame but Peyton Tanner slammed the door for her second-career save and the 6-4 win.
