WACO, Texas – No. 12 Baylor women’s basketball couldn’t maintain its momentum on Thursday night, falling to No. 17 TCU 83-67 at Foster Pavilion.

Taliah Scott scored 22 points, joined by Darianna Littlepage-Buggs and Jana Van Gytenbeek in double figures with 14 each. Littlepage-Buggs led Baylor with five rebounds, while Van Gytenbeek posted a game-high six assists.

In her 22-point night, Scott earned her 1,000th career point, becoming just the 22nd player since 2000 to score 1,000 career points in 48 games or fewer. She is tied for 19th for the fewest games needed in that span.

The Horned Frogs opened the game with back-to-back buckets to take an early 4-0 lead, but Scott answered from beyond the arc. Despite TCU’s hot start, Baylor responded with a 9-0 run capped by a Littlepage-Buggs bucket in the paint to take the lead.

TCU regained control with an 11-0 run, pushing the Horned Frogs ahead 21-12 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter opened with two scoreless minutes before TCU connected inside to stretch the lead to double digits, but Scott quickly trimmed the deficit to eight with her second triple of the night. The teams traded baskets over the next several possessions, and Scott knocked down three free throws for her 1,000th career point, cutting the margin to six.

With half of Baylor’s points at the break, Scott buried her third 3-pointer to pull the Bears within four, 36-32, at halftime.

Coming out of the break, TCU struck first with a pair of 3-pointers, while Baylor countered with consecutive scores in the paint. Littlepage-Buggs remained a force inside, converting two layups to keep the Bears within reach.

The Horned Frogs responded with two more threes to extend the advantage, but Van Gytenbeek answered with her third and fourth triples of the night to bring Baylor back within six. BU went cold on offense, and TCU heated up from deep, pushing the score to 61-48 heading into the final quarter.

To open the fourth, Bella Fontleroy finished through contact in an attempt to get the Bears’ offense rolling, but the Horned Frogs responded with a 9-0 run that halted Baylor’s push.

Baylor heads to Florida to take on UCF on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. The matchup will air on ESPN+ and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
