DALLAS – The watch list for the ninth annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year was announced on Tues., a group that includes 67 of the nation’s top leaders in college football, including Baylor’s own quarterback Sawyer Robertson.
The members of the watch list have all demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
The senior for BU is no stranger to being a leader in the huddle and in the locker room. Robertson’s intentional commitment to the Christian mission at Baylor has led him to participating in FCA and leading team bible studies, which has grown to have 30-40 teammates shown weekly. Robertson was also selected to be part of the inaugural Champions [re]Defined spiritual retreat, a partnership between Baylor’s Sports Ministry and the Faith & Sports Institute at Truett Seminary.
With over 15 hours of documented community engagement, Robertson has shown a sincere dedication to serving others and being an active contributor to the greater good. Within the Character Formation unit, Robertson has been a consistent and engaged presence, leaning into every opportunity to develop professionally and personally. The Lubbock, Texas, native has attentively participated in career development and financial literacy programming, demonstrating a proactive mindset and a desire to prepare himself for life beyond college athletics.
On the field, Robertson has shown off his talents as he recently snagged his fourth-career Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor after his five-touchdown performance in Baylor’s 45-27 win on the road at Oklahoma State. Robertson leads the nation in passing TDs (17), passing yards (1,713) and passing yards per game (342.6) through Week Five of the 2025 campaign.
Twenty semifinalists will be selected by a by a subset of the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Selection Committee and announced on Tues., October 14. Three finalists will then be named for the award on Monday, December 15. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony at The Star in Frisco, Texas, on April 16, 2026.
The winner of the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year will also receive a $10,000 contribution in his name to his school’s athletic scholarship fund. The contribution will be made by Jason Witten’s SCORE Foundation, the official charity of Jason and his wife Michelle.
