AUSTIN, Texas – No. 21 Baylor volleyball dropped its third match of the season with a 3-0 loss to No. 2 Texas on Friday night at Gregory Gym in Austin.

Battling early in the first set, BU tied the match at five, before a 7-2 Texas run put the home-standing Horns in the driver's seat, taking the opening stanza 25-18.

Texas flexed its muscle in the second set, jumping out to a 7-1 lead, and never looked back, taking a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-12 victory.

Baylor fought back in the third set, getting within 8-7, but a Texas challenge reversed a touch call, making it 9-6, and the Horns hit the gas, completing the sweep with a 25-13 win in the third set.

Manuela Bibinbe paced the Bears with seven kills on .211 hitting, to go along with three blocks. Freshmen outside hitters Bailey Warren and Ksenia Rakhmanchik tallied five kills apiece, while graduate transfer Gabrielle Essix tied for a match-high with four blocks.

Baylor hit a season-low .134 for the match with 28 kills. Texas countered with a .435 hitting percentage and 45 kills, the best hitting percentage BU has allowed to an opponent since Kentucky hit .500 against the Bears in December 2023. Prior to Friday, Baylor had not allowed an opponent to hit over .271 this season.
