FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 22 Baylor closed its regular season with a statement win, outlasting No. 20 TCU in a five-set thriller, 3-2, on Wednesday afternoon inside Schollmaier Arena.

The victory secured Baylor’s first season sweep of the Horned Frogs since 2021 and its first road win over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 22 Rice on Oct. 12, 2022.

Baylor opened the afternoon in control, using an early surge to build an eight-point lead midway through the first set before cruising to a 25-19 win. TCU responded with a 6-0 run in the second frame to pull away for a 25-18 decision, leveling the match.

The Bears dominated the third set behind a blistering 10-3 start, eventually rolling to a 25-15 victory powered by seven kills from Ksenia Rakhmanchik. TCU answered with a tight 25-21 win in the fourth, forcing a decisive fifth set.

Baylor left no doubt in the final frame. The Bears raced ahead 4-1, then 8-3, and later 11-4 before Rakhmanchik delivered the exclamation point with her career-best 28th kill, to secure the victory and complete the season sweep of the Horned Frogs.

Offensively, Baylor hit .314, its highest percentage in a five-set match since hitting .327 at Iowa State in September 2018. The Bears also controlled the match at the net, out-blocking TCU 14-4.5. The resulting +9.5 margin was Baylor’s largest blocking advantage of the season and a key turning point in tight moments.

Rakhmanchik and Bailey Warren combined for 48 of Baylor’s 62 kills, with Warren adding 20 kills of her own in an efficient, high-impact performance with some big kills down the stretch. With many family members in attendance, setter Harley Kreck anchored the defense with a team-high 21 digs while directing the offense with 49 assists, earning her team-leading fifth double-double of the season.

With the win, Baylor improves to 17-9 overall and 12-6 in Big 12 play, the sixth time in the last seven seasons the Bears won at least 12 conference matches. The Bears now await their postseason draw as the NCAA Tournament selection show approaches on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN.
