FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 22 Baylor volleyball closes out the regular season on Wednesday afternoon with an in-state showdown against No. 20 TCU at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth.
The matchup marks the 36th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Baylor holding a 24-11 series advantage and a 9-7 record in Fort Worth. Wednesday also marks the fourth straight meeting between Baylor and TCU as ranked opponents, a first in the series.
Baylor enters the matchup seeking its first ranked road win since Oct. 12, 2022, at Rice. The Bears’ most recent victory over a ranked opponent came earlier this season when they defeated then-No. 9 TCU in Waco in late September.
The Horned Frogs are led by former Ryan McGuyre assistant, Jason Williams, who is the father of former Baylor standout Callie Williams and the uncle of current Baylor setter Harley Kreck. While it will be a family affair on Wednesday afternoon, the competition between the lines will be fierce, and Kreck looks forward to playing a match with postseason intensity.
“Yeah, this is a great game to play, for the last game of conference going into postseason,” she said. “This is probably going to be very similar to a first or second round type of match that we'll face next week. There will be a lot of energy and a sense of urgency to go out on to finish conference with a bang, and prepare well for the postseason.”
The Bears are coming off back-to-back wins against Houston and Texas Tech, where Baylor's freshmen shone in a big way. Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, Morgan Madison added to her case for Big 12 Libero of the Year, recording 31 digs last time out, the second most in a four-set match in program history.
Ksenia Rakhmanchik enters Wednesday leading the team in kills, points and attempts in six-straight matches, while fellow freshman outside Bailey Warren was effective and efficient against the Red Raiders, piling up 14 kills on a career-best .500 hitting percentage.
Under McGuyre, Baylor has consistently excelled against in-state competition, posting a 70–35 record against Texas programs, including a 39-9 mark against current Big 12 teams from the Lone Star State.
Baylor and TCU square off Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Fort Worth, with live coverage on ESPN+,<https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/7e8344de-40d2-4ea2-967a-388e090fea68> and live stats through BaylorBears.com/Stats<http://www.baylorbears.com/stats>
