WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball defeated Le Moyne, 99-43, on Sunday afternoon at Foster Pavilion, riding a dominant offensive performance that featured three Bears scoring at least 20 points for the first time since the trio of NaLyssa Smith (30 pts), Hannah Gusters (22) and Queen Egbo (21) showed out against Northwestern State on Dec. 18, 2020.

Darianna Littlepage-Buggs powered Baylor with 26 points on 12-of-13 shooting and 11 rebounds, recording her 31st career double-double. Bella Fontleroy added 21 points, including the milestone 1,000th career point on her final shot of the night, while Taliah Scott poured in 22 with a career-high nine assists.

The Bears shot 56.5% from the field, forced 23 turnovers and scored 50 points in the paint while never trailing. Baylor built a 26-13 lead after the first quarter and broke the game open with a 24-6 second stanza.

Littlepage-Buggs controlled the inside from the start, scoring eight of BU’s first 16 points and finishing the first quarter with 15. She reached 20 points midway through the second quarter, as the Bears pushed their lead past 30.

Fontleroy’s milestone moment came in the third quarter, when her 3-pointer from the left wing made her the program’s newest 1,000-point scorer, joining Littlepage-Buggs. She finished 7-of-10 from the field with four threes, four rebounds and four steals.

Scott became the third Bear to eclipse 20 points late in the third quarter, marking the first time in nearly five years that three Baylor players hit the 20-point mark in the same game. Scott’s name is also added with the likes of six players (Naomi White (active), Hannah Hidalgo, Caitlin Clark, Dyaisha Fair, Aari McDonald and Jessica Shepard) in the last ten years that have scored 20+ points in their first four games with a new team.

Junior transfer Kiera Pemberton scored her first points as a Bear in the fourth quarter, finishing with six on the day, while Yuting Deng added a career-high two blocks to go with seven points off the bench. Jana Van Gytenbeek also scored her first points since the season opener against Duke, tallying five points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

Le Moyne, who shot 30.4% as a team with zero fast break points, was led by Peyton Dincher’s 11 points.

The Bears on back on the road playing at a neutral site next week, facing Iowa on Thursday and Davidson on Saturday as part of the WBCA Showcase at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando’s Walt Disney World resort.
