WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s golf bolstered its roster Tuesday, announcing the addition of transfers Alex Heard from UConn and Evan Vo from Auburn.
Heard comes to BU fresh off an appearance in the NCAA Amherst Regional after taking home individual medalist honors at the Big East Championship. Vo, an SEC All-Freshman team selection in 2022 at Auburn, joins the Bears for his final season in 2025-26. Head coach Mike McGraw likes what this duo can add to his team next year.
“This is really big for our program to add players of this caliber to our roster,” McGraw said. “Both Alex and Evan come to us after decorated careers at their previous schools, and we are thrilled to add them to our talented group of returners for next season.”
Heard is coming off a season in which he played 28 rounds across 10 events, recording a stroke average of 71.50 to lead the Huskies. Outside of his win at the Big East Championship, he finished tied for second at the Dorado Collegiate and tied for eighth at the ECU Intercollegiate.
As a freshman, he won UConn’s Player Development Award, given to the athlete who improved their game the most during the course of the season. He played in nine events, posting a stroke average of 73.9, which was fourth-best on the team, while carding nine rounds at par or better.
Vo comes to Waco after four seasons on the Plains with the Auburn Tigers. Bursting on the scene in 2021-22, he played in 31 events with a stroke average of 72.26, third-best among regular members of the lineup. A tie for second at the General Hackler Championship earned him SEC Freshman of the Week Honors in March of that season, one of three top-20 finishes.
Contributing a counting score in 90% of his team rounds played that season, the Austin, Texas, native earned SEC All-Freshman honors. Vo battled injuries over the next couple of years, costing him the entirety of the 2023-24 season, but still compiled three more top 10s and five more top 20s.
The talented duo joins a group of returners, which includes last season's stroke-average leader, Jonas Appel, along with Sam Dossey, Vincent Stjernfeldt, Davis Ovard and Martin Kemp. Additionally, the Bears signed Patrick Babb and Tyler Sanford last November.
