BURLESON, Texas – Three Baylor equestrian student-athletes have received All-Big 12 honors, the conference announced at the Big 12 Championship.
Alexis Rutledge was named the Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Year as well as to the All-Big 12 squad, Lauren Reid was selected for the All-Big 12 Flat team and Lauren Jorgensen was named to the All-Big 12 Fences team.
This marks only the second time a Baylor student-athlete has earned the Horsemanship Rider of the Year honor, with the first being Bryn Lindley in 2014. This also marks the second All-Big 12 honor overall for Reid, who was selected to the All-Big 12 Fences team last year.
Rutledge ended the regular season with a career-best .818 average, three MOPs in conference play, and had a perfect 6-0 record for Big 12 meets. She earns this honor besting top Horsemanship athlete Kendra Lee of Fresno State, OSU’s June Roberson and Claire McDowall, and the previous Horsemanship Rider of the Year Jessica McAllister of TCU during the regular season. Rutledge was also named to the All-Big 12 Horsemanship team along with her major accolade. In the Big 12 Semifinal, she rode to a 75 and earned her point against OSU.
Reid's .700-win percentage and 4-2 conference record on the season earned her spot on the All-Big 12 Flat team, including going 7-3 overall in the regular season. She had the highest score in the Big 12 Semifinal against Oklahoma State with a 92 on Saturday, riding Lina.
Jorgensen earned her spot on the All-Big 12 Fences after her career high score of 88 vs. SDSU, which is also the highest program score of the year in the event and the third-highest score since the 2017-18 season. Jorgensen also led the Fences team with three MOPs on the season.
