FORT WORTH, Texas — On a day where just two teams finished at even-par, Baylor women’s closed Monday in 15th place after a 25-over 585.

BU’s Sera Hasegawa was one of just 18 players to break par in the second round, battling her way to a 1-over 41 and a tie for 15th to lead the Bears. SMU's Mackenzie Lee and Oregon's Kiara Romero share the 36-hole lead, matching 5-under 135s.

The Bears begin Tuesday within eight shots of the top-10, while Wake Forest and Oregon sleep on the team lead on Monday night on the heels of even-par 560s.

THE RUNDOWN
Round One
Silje Ohma paced Baylor in round one with an even-par 70, in a round where the stroke average sat at 72.79. Starting on No. 12, the junior opened with five-straight pars before her first bogey of the day at No. 17. Preceded by another seven pars, Ohma pushed back to even-par with a birdie at No. 7.

Hasegawa finished the first round with a 2-over 72. Opening with a par at No. 13 to start, the Gifu, Japan, native quickly found red figures with birdies at Nos. 14 and 16. She gave a shot back with a bogey at No. 17 and then dropped to level-par with another at No. 5. Back-to-back double-bogeys would move her to 4-over before she clawed back a couple of strokes with birdies at Nos. 9 and 11.

BaiMai Seema also finished round one with a 72. Starting at No. 14, Seema found trouble with a double-bogey at No. 17 but would gain back a stroke at No. 2 with her first birdie of the round. Back-to-back bogeys in the infamous "horrible horseshoe" dropped her to three over on the day. She bounced back nicely with birdies at Nos. 6 and 7, followed by her final bogey of the round at No. 9.

Ashleen Kaur started her tournament with a 5-over 75 in the first round. Starting 4-over in her first five holes, the sophomore would rebound with birdies at Nos. 1 and 3. A bogey, double-bogey stretch at Nos. 4 and 5 would drop her to 5-over before playing her final eight holes bogey-free.

Jenny Lee also shot a 5-over 75 in her first competitive spin around Colonial. Starting at the par-5 11th, Lee carded a quick birdie and would play her first eight holes at even-par, thanks to another birdie at No. 16, around a pair of bogeys at Nos. 15 and 17. The freshman played the next five holes at 5-over par with a bogey at No. 1 and double-bogeys at Nos. 2 and 5. She finished the final five holes at even-par to get into the house at 5-over.

Second Round
Starting at No. 13 in the second round, Hasegawa played her first nine holes at 2-under with birdies at Nos. 16 and No. 1. The senior would play her inward half at 1-over, making bogeys at Nos. 5 and 8 around a birdie at No. 7.

Ohma shot a 5-over 75 in the second round to settle into a tie for 31st. Going out in 2-over with bogeys at Nos. 15 and 17, The Bergen, Norway, native dropped four more shots on her second nine after a double-bogey at No. 6 and bogeys at Nos. 8 and 10. She finished strong with a birdie on her final hole of the day at No. 11.

Lee carded a 6-over 76 in the second round to get to 11-over on the day and a tie for 59th. An outward half that featured a birdie at No. 18 and bogeys at Nos. 14, 15 and 1 was followed by an inward half that included only three pars. Playing the "Horrible Horseshoe" at 3-over, the freshman added another bogey at No. 6, ahead of her second birdie of the day at No. 7. A final bogey befell her at No. 9 to finish with a 76.

Kaur's second round started with a bogey at No. 14 before adding a second just three holes later at No. 17. She battled back with birdies at Nos. 18 and 2 around another bogey at No. 1. Kaur played her next eight holes at six-over par but played her final three at 2-under on the strength of an eagle at No. 11 to tie for 59th.

BaiMai Seema finished Monday with a 10-over 80, her highest round of the season, to tie for 66th.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Hasegawa’s second-round 69 was the 18th of her collegiate career
