WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball was named the No. 4 seed in the Spokane 1 Region of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, as announced on ESPN during the Selection Show on Sunday evening.
Playing postseason basketball in the Paul and Alejandra Foster Pavilion for the first time and hosting for the 11th time in program history, the Bears will welcome Grand Canyon, Ole Miss and Ball State to the Banks of the Brazos with BU’s first-round matchup coming against Grand Canyon on Friday.
Baylor is 18-2 when hosting the NCAA Tournament in Waco, 1-1 in the Nicki Collen era, playing Hawaii and South Dakota in her first season at the helm of the program at the Ferrell Center.
Named the No. 4 seed for the third time, the last coming in 2010, the Bears look to make a run to the championship crowning Final Four in Tampa, Fla., the site of the 2019 National Championship won by Baylor in a nail-biting game decided in the final seconds by a Chloe Jackson layup.
The 2025 NCAA Tournament holds Baylor’s 21st-consecutive berth, the third-longest active streak in the nation behind Tennessee (43) and UConn (36). BU boasts a 57-19 record in the Big Dance with 16 Sweet 16 appearances, the last coming last season, 10 Elite Eight appearances and Four Final Fours.
The Bears finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 25-6 record, going 15-3 in Big 12 play to finish in second place in the league. BU made a run to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship title game after grabbing a pair of wins over Iowa State and No. 21 Oklahoma State in the quarter- and semifinal rounds. The TCU Horned Frogs got their second five-point win of the season over Baylor in Sunday’s championship game.
Tickets for the NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds will be on sale soon, with more information being released for game day on BaylorBears.com.
