HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Baylor women’s golf is back on the East Coast in preparation for the prestigious Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, beginning Monday morning at Long Cove Club.

The tournament was the first and remains the only all-women’s regular-season collegiate golf event and is hosted by the country-music superstar Darius Rucker. Aside from the COVID-affected 2020-21 season, the Bears have played in this event every season since 2017. The invite to play an event of this caliber is something head coach Jay Goble does not take lightly.

“We feel really lucky to continue to play this event,” he said. “It's highly visible on Golf Channel, features 17 amazing teams in the field, and will be a challenge like it always is. It's on a great golf course in Long Cove Club, which is a top-20 track in America. The venue, the support from the membership and the team activities like the Darius Rucker Concert make it a really cool week for us on and off the course.”

Silje Ohma will play at No. 1 for the third-straight event. The 2023 All-American is on track to regain that form, finishing no lower than a tie for sixth in three events this semester. This is Ohma’s third trip to Long Cove Club.

Sera Hasegawa is coming off her best finish of the season, with a tie for fourth in Valencia, Calif., last week. Playing at No. 2 this week, the senior aims to build on her tie for 19th at Long Cove Club last year.

BaiMai Seema is also a veteran of the Darius Rucker and will get the nod at No. 3 this week. The senior used a final-round 70 to tie for 41st in the 90-team field in 2022 and will look to best that in her final appearance on the island.

Bridget Boczar will play out of the No. 4 position in her first appearance in the tournament. The junior is trending, finishing in the top-25 in each of her last four events.

Malena Castro will play out of the fifth spot this week. In her first two collegiate events, the General Pico, Argentina, native has finished no worse than a tie for 30th.

Golf Channel will feature live tournament coverage<https://www.nbc.com/live?brand=golf&callsign=golf> each day from 1:30-4:30 p.m. CT. A full listing of tee times, live scores and stats will be available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.<https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/233094/scoring/participants>
