Team USA MBB Goes Undefeated in Pool Play at FISU World University Games with Win Over Team Romania, 85-65
Team USA earns No. 1 seed heading into bracket play with 3-0 record

HAGEN, Germany – In its final game of pool play at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, Team USA, represented by Baylor men’s basketball, took down Team Romania 85-65 to go a perfect 3-0 record and enter the bracket play portion as a No. 1 seed.



Team USA has dominated all three of its opponents through pool play, with Team Romania being no exception. USA led for the entirety of the game, out-rebounding and holding Romania to 44-percent from the field. On the offensive end, USA shot 60-percent while racking up 23 total assists, including four players with at least four assists each.



Another well-rounded scoring night came to fruition for Team USA with four players in double-figures with at least 15 points. Obi Agbim for the second night in a row led the way for USA with another 20-point game, this time with 22 points along with five assists and two steals. Agbim has found success in Germany, averaging 19.3 points per game.



Alongside Agbim was Cameron Carr who had a highlight night with multiple show-stopping dunks, racking up 19 points, five rebounds and three steals. Dan Skillings Jr. put up a near double-double with 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Isaac Williams IV went 7-for-10 on the night with 15 points and five assists.



Team USA will now prepare for the quarterfinals of bracket play, facing off against Team Finland at 5:30 pm local time (10:30 am CT) on Wednesday, July 23rd, at Ischelandhalle in Hagen, Germany. Finland went 2-1 in pool play in Group A and will enter as a No. 2 seed.



THE RUNDOWN

A lob up top to Carr for a dunk followed by a three from Agbim got Team USA started for its third game of the tournament. A few forced turnovers by Team Romania led to chipping away from Team USA’s six point-lead. Another poster one-handed dunk by Carr picked up the momentum to give USA a 9-0 run to head into the second quarter with a 26-15 lead.



Agbim kept his energy up, reaching double-figures at the start of the second quarter. With the help of the Wyoming-transfer, USA went on an 12-2 run in the first five minutes of action out of the break. At halftime, USA led with a 45-32 cushion, shooting 59-percent from the field. On the defensive end, USA forced six steals and held Romania to just 15-percent from behind the arc.



Skillings got the third quarter started with a driving dunk. Skillings and Carr both hit double-figures in the third to contribute to USA’s 26-point third quarter at 71-53.



In the fourth, Team USA kept its foot on the gas while emptying out its bench. All 10 players saw action on the court, including Will Kuykendall who nailed a corner three in the final two minutes to give Team USA’s its third win in Germany.
