Postgame comments from head coach Nicki Collen are available HERE<https://baylor.box.com/s/3w53se3fzthnv4zhwzbr8ddzvmjt2lsz>.
* Baylor defeated Arizona for the first time in program history, 81-76, in the first overtime win of the Nicki Collen era on Wednesday evening.
* BU held Arizona to one offensive rebound off 31 misses, marking the fewest allowed under Collen’s tenure and the lowest total since at least the 2000-01 season. In those 25 years, Baylor never held their opponents to less than three offensive rebounds, the last coming against West Virginia on March 4, 2023.
* With BU up 39-26 at the half, Arizona used a nine-point run between the third and fourth quarters to force the first overtime game the Bears since February 18, 2023, vs. Iowa State.
* The Bears shot 41.4%, going 29-of-70 from the floor and picked up their first win this season with shooting less than the opponent, improving an 0-3 record to give Collen the 9-26 tally in that category.
* Baylor sunk 10 3-pointers for sixth time this season, second in conference play joining the 12-triple road effort at Kanas.
* Wednesday night’s game was the Bears’ third win at the McKale Memorial Center, but the first win against the Wildcats after a three-game skid that spanned from 1981 to 2022, played out at neutral sites.
* BU improves to 2-1 on the road this season, both wins coming in the Big 12 gauntlet.
* 3-1 matches Collen’s best start in Big 12 play (2022-23).
* Collen is 87-31 in her fourth season leading the Bears, 40-18 in Big 12 play.
* Collen is 15-9 in the month of January.
* Jada Walker led the scoring effort for the Bears for the second time this season with 16 points, including a pair of clutch free throws late in the fourth frame. The second-year Bear got six rebounds and a team-leading nine assists.
* Darianna Littlepage-Buggs had her eighth double-double of the season in a 15-point, 11-rebound performance in Tucson. The junior is one of 17 in NCAA DI basketball with at least eight double-doubles this season, retaking sole possession of the conference lead.
* Three years removed from being a Wildcat, Aaronette Vonleh returned to McKale for the third time with a 15-point showing with six rebounds.
* Yaya Felder had her 10th game in double figures this season against Arizona, scoring 12 with a 2-of-3 showing from the arc.
* Closing out double digits for BU in another five-Bear showing, Sarah Andrews had 11 with three triples and three assists.
* Bella Fontleroy scored nine, all coming from three, with five rebounds and was held without a block for just the fifth time in the 2024-25 campaign.
* Aliyah Matharu nailed her first field goal as a Bear, sinking a 3-pointer in the second quarter.
* Madison Bartley was scoreless, but had a season-high and six rebounds, her best mark as a Bear, in the most minutes on the court this year.
* Baylor started Jada Walker, Sarah Andrews, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, Aaronette Vonleh and Bella Fontleroy for the 16th time this season in as many games.
* Walker is 39-11, Andrews is 84-32, Littlepage-Buggs is 51-18, Fontleroy is 34-13 and Vonleh is 13-3 as starters at Baylor.
* Baylor continues its Arizona road trip with a game against Arizona State in Tempe on Saturday afternoon in the first of two games on the day between the Sun Devils and the Bears. Both school’s men’s squads will face off in the nightcap of the doubleheader.
