FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor baseball senior outfielders Enzo Apodaca and Wesley Jordan have been named to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA) Watch List for the 2025 season, as announced by SR Bats.

The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in the country. The BBNCSA is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity.

This year’s watch list consists of 46 players representing 16 conferences and one independent, including all four power conferences. The 2025 list is headlined by 29 juniors, 14 seniors, two sophomores and one grad student.

Apodaca, a redshirt senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., led the Bears in nearly every offensive category in 2024, batting .333 with 70 hits, including 14 doubles and six home runs. He was the only player to start all 53 games at the same position for BU a year ago and made a big impact out of the leadoff spot as the toughest player to strike out in the Big 12, punching out just once every 11.1 at-bats. To start the new season, Apodaca has logged six hits in 15 at-bats (.400), including a home run in Tuesday night’s win over UTSA.

A power threat from Highland Village, Texas, Jordan launched nine home runs in 2024 and was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection after reaching base safely in each of his final 34 games of the season. He finished the year batting .331 and driving in 32 RBIs and is off to a torrid start in 2025, batting .563 through four games with four extra-base hits. Jordan hit his first home run of the year in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader against Youngstown State and has driven in eight runs already. His current 38-game on-base streak is the second-longest by a Bear since David Murphy’s modern-era record of 42 games in 2023.

Both Apodaca and Jordan were named Academic All-District selections by College Sports Communicators in 2024.

The Baylor duo are two of five players from the Big 12 named to this year’s watch list, joining Arizona’s Mason White, Oklahoma State’s Nolan Schubart and Texas Tech’s Damian Bravo. BU is one of eight schools nationally with two or more players on the watch list.

The BBNCSA originally started in 2017 as an honor going to the top college hitter in the state of Texas. In 2019, the award expanded, becoming a regional award covering Division I programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. In 2020, the BBNCSA became a national award, though no winner was announced due to the COVID-19 virus which halted the 2020 college baseball season.

Since 2021, winners of the national award include Connor Norby (East Carolina), Ivan Melendez (Texas), Dylan Crews (LSU) and Charlie Condon (Georgia).

The winner of the 2025 BBNCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club.
