No. 10 Baylor EQ Comes Up Short Against No. 4 Oklahoma State
Bears have dominating performance in Fences; Alexis Rutledge earns MOP honors

WACO, Texas – The 10th-ranked Baylor equestrian team came up short to the No. 4 Oklahoma State on Saturday at the Willis Family Equestrian Center, 13-7
The Bears (2-6, 1-4) fell to the Cowgirls (6-3, 2-3) in BU’s second Big 12 matchup of the spring slate.
THE RUNDOWN
Starting off the meet in Fences, Emma Covarrubias scored a 72 on Vif to beat Gable Gering’s 68.5, scoring the first point for the Bears. Lauren Jorgensen scored a 66.5 on Sherman but was upended by OSU’s 83.5. Juliette Early responded with a 79.5 on Florio to beat the Cowgirls’ 76.5, giving Baylor the lead. Lauren Reid scored a 78.5 on Florio but was surpassed by OSU’s 81.5 in a close matchup. Madison Mitchell dominated to close out Fences for the Bears, scoring a 79 on Lennox and giving Baylor the 3-2 lead and their first Fences win against OSU since October 13, 2023.
In Reining, Isabella Hehr came out first for the Bears with a 70.25 on Raymond but was edged out by Abby Budd’s 71.25. Sadie Peters came out on Penny and scored a 69.25 against OSU’s 65.75, earning a point for Baylor. In another close matchup, Ryan Jensen fell by one point against OSU’s Tristan Bagby, scoring a 69.5 against the Cowgirls’ 70.25. Emily Moomaw came short in a close matchup, scoring a 70.75 against OSU’s 71.5. To close out Reining, Kalena Reynolds scored a 67.25 but was outscored by OSU’s 70.25.
Going into the half, the Bears were down 4-6.
In Horsemanship, Taylor Smith came up a quarter of a point short, scoring a 72.25 to OSU’s 72.5. Alexis Rutledge outscored Peyton Baxter, scoring a 75.5 to her 74, earning a point for Baylor. Anna Thron led another close matchup, scoring a 73.75 to OSU’s 73.5. The Cowgirls scored the last two points of the event, with Emily Moomaw’s 70.75 coming up short to OSU’s 71.5 and Kalena Reynolds’ 67.25 being outscored by OSU’s 70.25. It was Rutledge who came away with the MOP honor at the end of the meet.
In Flat, Lauren Jorgensen earned the first point for the Bears, scoring a 76 against OSU’s 62.5. The Cowgirls went on a four-point run from there, with Caroline Mirts’ 77 outscoring Madi Mitchell’s 65.5, Lauren Reid coming up a half point short with a 64 to OSU’s 64.5, Riley Hogan upending Juliette Early’s 81, and OSU’s Hannah Dodd scoring a 71 to Caroline Robelen’s 0. The Bears earned the final point of the event, with Lauren Stebbins scoring an 81.5 to beat OSU’s 76.

The Bears return to the Willis on March 1 for the last home meet of the season, facing TCU for Senior Day with a start time of 12 p.m.
