WACO, Texas – Baylor women's golf earned the No. 7 seed at the NCAA Norman Regional, announced during the 2025 NCAA Women's Golf Selection Show on Golf Channel Wednesday afternoon.
The three-day tournament will be played May 5-7 at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla. A No. 7 seed for the second-straight season, head coach Jay Goble is thrilled with a fresh start close to home.
“I love this draw for our team,” he said. “It’s a Perry Maxwell design touched up by architect Tripp Davis, who redesigned our home course, Ridgewood Country Club, two years ago. The best thing about regionals is that you can take a deep breath and start fresh, which is what our team needs after the last few weeks. This group has had some ups and downs, but we always peak at the right time, so we will go out there with a great outlook and compete.”
The Bears will be appearing in an NCAA Tournament for the 12th time in the last 13 possible seasons during Goble’s tenure. BU was a No. 7 seed in the Las Vegas Regional in 2024, finishing tied for fourth to clinch its fourth-straight NCAA Championship appearance and sixth in the last seven seasons, one of just eight programs to accomplish that feat.
No. 6 seed Oklahoma will host the 54-hole tournament on the par-72 layout. The top five teams at each of the six regional sites will advance to the 2025 NCAA Championship at The Omni La Costa Golf Course outside of San Diego.
Baylor has advanced through Regionals to the NCAA Championship in seven of the last nine tournaments, earning Championship berths in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, recording top-10 national finishes in ’15, ’17 and ’18.
The Bears advanced to match play and finished as national runner-up in 2015 at The Concession; the Bears again advanced to match play and finished tied for fifth place in 2017 at Rich Harvest Farms; and BU fell in a playoff for the final match play berth on its way to a tie for eighth place in the 2018 NCAA Championship at Karsten Creek.
The Norman Regional features a 12-team field – No. 1 seed Stanford, No. 2 Northwestern, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Michigan State, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 7 Baylor, No. 8 Oregon State, No. 9 Tulsa, No. 10 Denver, No. 11 Furman and No. 12 Southern Miss.
Baylor has faced six of the 11 teams in the regional during the 2024-25 season, going a combined 7-4-0 against those opponents.
